Everyday Dental Care for University Park Households

The City of Raleigh Neighborhood Registry lists the University Park HOA with 1,556 homes. Its area runs from Oberlin Road west to about Dixie Trail and Faircloth Street, and from near Hillsborough Street north to Wade Avenue. NC State's main campus sits just across Hillsborough Street, and many residents of the overlapping historic district are NC State faculty and students.

The neighborhood grew from several early subdivisions, platted between 1915 and 1938, that now sit inside the West Raleigh Historic District. Harris-Chamberlain came first, in 1915, when two State College civil engineering professors surveyed and platted 145 acres northwest of the old fairgrounds. Forest Hills followed in 1927 on land owned by a State College chemistry professor, with extensions in 1937, 1938 and 1944.

Most homes in the historic district are one-story houses from the 1930s through the 1950s. Forest Hills makes up the forested northeast corner of West Raleigh. Its curved cut-stone gates from around 1940 count as a contributing structure in the National Register district.

Green space is never far away. Gardner Street Park is a linear strip along a small creek between Van Dyke Avenue and Mayview Road, platted with Forest Hills in 1927. Jaycee Park and Community Center at 2405 Wade Ave, established in 1961, adds a gym, lighted softball and baseball fields, tennis and sand volleyball courts, a dog run and a daylily garden.

Isabella Cannon Park, our starting point, covers 3.5 acres with a climbing boulder, playground, basketball court and picnic shelter. It opened in 1937 as Gardner Street Neighborhood Park and now honors Raleigh's first female mayor. You can read more on the City's Isabella Cannon Park page.

For a bigger outing, Pullen Park at 520 Ashe Ave lies just south of Hillsborough Street. It opened in 1887 and is billed as the first public park in North Carolina.

Oral Health Priorities Around University Park

Academic life runs on deadlines, and dental care tends to slide when the semester gets heavy. A practice a few blocks away makes it easier to keep twice-yearly cleanings on the calendar. Our doors open at 8 AM Monday through Friday, we close at 4 PM Monday through Thursday, and Fridays end at 2 PM.

A first visit starts with listening. We review your health history, take low-radiation digital x-rays and look closely at older fillings and crowns before suggesting anything. University Park patients leave with a clear list of what needs attention now and what can safely wait.

Broken teeth do not wait for a quiet week. When a filling gives way or a molar cracks, our same-day crowns can often restore the tooth in a single appointment. New patients with sudden pain can also book the $39 Emergency Exam & X-Ray to find out what is wrong.

Sleep matters to everyone juggling classes, research and family. Snoring, morning headaches or a tired jaw are worth mentioning at your exam, since they can relate to sleep apnea or grinding. We can talk through those concerns and your options during the visit.

Some neighbors come to us because of our whole-health approach. We offer biocompatibility testing, natural ozone therapy and SMART amalgam removal, and our CBCT 3D imaging gives a detailed view of bone and roots when treatment planning calls for it. Every choice stays in your hands, and we explain each option without pressure.

Wade Avenue connects west to I-440, the Beltline, but you will not need it to reach us. The whole trip stays on neighborhood streets, so there is no reason to head toward Cary or Garner for routine care.
